Telecommunications company Safaricom has announced a reduction in internet speeds across the country following an outage on two of their undersea cables.
The company said the disruption which occurred on Tuesday evening, has affected several critical applications, including the M-PESA Super App and the Safaricom App.

“We have experienced an outage on two of our undersea cables that deliver internet traffic in and out of the country. We have activated redundancy measures to minimise service interruption and keep you connected as we await the full restoration of the cables,” the service provider said in a statement.
Users have been advised to use USSD *334# for M-PESA services or the SIM Tool Kit.
Most internet users reported slow internet particularly Twitter users formerly known as (X).
